Helping ensure all North Texas students receive an excellent and equitable education.
The Commit Partnership is a non-profit coalition of over 200 partners (public and private schools, colleges and universities, foundations, businesses, and nonprofits) that works collaboratively to help solve the region’s biggest systemic challenges, including improving early childhood education, preparing and retaining effective educators, and increasing postsecondary completion rates.
Commit is a data-driven organization that needed help making their vast education and information resources more accessible to a general audience.

Tightening things up
Most of Switch's work for Commit lives online, but before getting started we had the opportunity to evolve the organization's mark to portray a bit more impact.
While the existing Commit symbol was too iconic to change, we started by refining the logotype and introducing some brand standards that would streamline things for their internal team.
The Digital Starting Point
The main Commit website serves as a dashboard into a wide range of individual initiatives and their associated digital environments. Therefore, it needed to be flexible enough to handle up-to-the-minute updates, all without sacrificing the data depth that the site offers.
Streamlining Without Compromising
The Commit site serves several particular audiences including parents, educators, administrators, and policy makers. These diverse audiences each require a different level of depth and a unique style of interaction. Our task was to move each audience into the appropriate channel, while also not burying information that might be relevant to all audiences.
Making Data Accessible
Commit’s data section is the bedrock of their site, and we had to build them something that would be both easy to navigate while also remaining flexible for the Commit team as their visualization needs changed from month-to-month.
Along with the Commit Partnership site, Switch has been tasked with creating sites for many of the individual initiatives as well—each with unique audiences and complex goals.
Connecting Parents with Pre-K Resources Near Them
National research has demonstrated multiple benefits for high quality Pre-K programs, including increased literacy, kindergarten readiness, and increased overall quality of life in later years. However, many parents don’t know what Pre-K resources are available to them, especially those offered by the public school system. This site allows parents to easily determine their eligibility for local Pre-K programs, and find the programs closest to their homes.
Getting to the Point
Once a parent has submitted some basic information, they are offered a customized list of local Pre-K programs along with key information such as enrollment availability, length of school day, and distance from their home.
Advocating for Early Childhood Education in Dallas
Early Matters Dallas is a broad-based coalition of business, civic, education, philanthropic, and nonprofit organizations and volunteers, working together to raise awareness about, and advocate for, the importance of high-quality early education for a strong economy tomorrow.
We were tasked to organize the vast array of data resources that EMD provides to make their digital presence both robust and easy to update internally.
Dallas County Promise
Helping Students Succeed in College and Careers
Dallas County Promise is a coalition of school districts, colleges, universities, employers, and communities that have joined forces to help more Dallas County students complete college and begin careers.
Many DISD seniors want to pursue a college degree, but the process seems daunting. We were asked to build a brand and website that helped communicate the steps and process involved transitioning from high school to higher education and a successful career.
An Educational State of the Union
StrongReaders.org is an extremely in-depth look at the state of student literacy in Dallas, especially within the context of the nation as a whole. Switch was tasked with not only the content and interaction strategy for this robust site, but also the data visualizations, video elements, and site animations before developing it all in-house.
Community Scorecards
Putting It All on Paper
Along with websites, Switch has been able to help Commit create their yearly Scorecards, a print piece that translates all of the most important metrics from the prior academic year and presents them simply, methodically, and clearly for a non-specialist audience.
